FORMATION & OPERATION OF SCHOOL CLUBS
- Introduction:
Participation at the clubs provides a good opportunity for students to explore their interests and realise their potential. Suryakant Jog Deepshikha Gurukul Sainik School, Chikhaldara runs 22 clubs for students to identify their place in the social community and find their niche among students with similar interests and goals. These clubs permit students to pursue their passions and develop a sense of purpose with their creative actions. - Aim:
To help student develop their personal skills and leadership qualities by guiding them to put their ideas into practice. - Planning Parameters:
- All students in the School will mandatorily be part of one of the clubs listed below. They can be part of only one club in the given academic year. A student can change his club in the next academic year subject to availability of vacancy.
- Strength of any club will not exceed 15 students. Allocation of clubs will be carried by the teachers on the basis of willingness of the student or nomination by the teacher.
- One day in a week will be earmarked for club activities.
- All club activities will be undertaken only under the supervision of nominated teacher assigned to the club as Club Guide. Students will NOT undertake any activity without express permission of the Club Guide.
- Each club will have a Club Monitor and Club Secretary nominated from amongst the students. Club Monitor will assist the Club Guide in conduct of club activities. Club Secretary will function as deputy to Club Monitor and will also maintain minutes of all club activities. He will also perform the duties as Club Treasurer and maintain details of complete expenditure.
- Each club will have a uniform mix of all houses and all classes.
- All clubs will submit their written objectives and program for the term at the beginning of the term. Club Guides are requested to assist the club members in preparing this document.
- All clubs will produce one exhibition / performance / group activity for display every year.
- All Club Guides and Club Monitors will discuss their plans for club activities with Commandant before 31 Jul 20.
Details of Clubs and their Objectives
- Public
Speaking
If a student wants to get good at public speaking, reporting on current events and making effective arguments, speech and debate, then this is the club for you. Through speech and debate, you’ll have the opportunity to compete locally, regionally and nationally in a variety of events that span from acting to intense 45-minutes debates. Those who do speech and debate really do fall in love with it and are often found competing at tournaments on weekends.
- MUM
This is an activity in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches participants researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills. School may organise a Inter Sainik School MUN in current calendar year.
- Reading
Students could arrange a club where the club members read one required book a week/month and then can come together in a meeting to discuss it. You’d be amazed at the intellectual conversations and debates you can have about a theme or plot line of a novel. You could also go out into the community and promote literacy by donating books or organizing a book drive for a local library or homeless shelter.
- Creative Writing
Want to write short stories, novels, be the next J.K. Rowling? A creative writing club is a good place for you to start. By joining this club, you’ll find that your writing skills really improve as you will be able to practice writing constantly and receive helpful feedback from your peers.
- Dance
If you enjoy dancing and want to experiment creativity, you should be in this club. You can engage yourself in multiple forms of dance for art, fitness and for sheer joy of it. It will boost your morale and prove your talent and creativity.
- Music
The music club is a platform for peers to bond over music in terms of performing, collaborating, learning, sharing, exploring, creating and studying diversity in music.
- Dramatics
This is the club for all of you theatre enthusiasts. If you want the opportunity to act and practice your interpretation skills with a group, this is the club to join. You may get to audition for and star in plays for your school and perhaps even participate in acting competitions.
- Art
The main objective of the Fine Arts Club is to encourage the students in various arts activities and to improve the imagination skill in Entertainment.
- Sculpture
If you’re interested in forming art from clay, stone and other moulds, sculpture club could be for you. You could learn how to create great sculptures and the different methods with which you could do it. You’ll probably get to create a work of art of your own and display it in a competition or presentation.
- Military
History
This is a club where you can analyse and present historic battles that have shaped the world as we see it today. You may also be able to hear from various historians and other professionals that use history in their work. Perhaps you may even get to take trips down to famous historical sites so you can visualize historical moments in their entirety.
- Geography
This club plays an important role in creating interest in geography. It aims to develop knowledge and insight amongst the students of India as well as the world.
- Mathematics
If math, statistics or numbers in general spark your interest, consider doing it competitively by joining Mathematics Club. The club will be a great way for you to get ahead in your math classes and possibly compete with a team once you’re ready.
- Innovation
If you know that you want to go into a science-related field or if science really interests you, consider putting your knowledge into a competition with Innovation Club. This club will be a great way for you to pick up some material and get ahead in your science classes. You will get an opportunity to participate at the state and national level competitions.
- Astronomy
This club will aim to promote amateur astronomy and encourage students to explore our galaxy. Eminent experts in the field may be called upon to conduct classes.
- Photography and Video Making
This is a club where students discuss famous photographs or take pictures of school, community and other memorable places/moments. You could even have a showcase or fundraiser during the year where the best photos from your club are featured and/or sold.
- Animation
This club will aim at introducing students to understand basic computer animation and 3D modelling. They will also learn about various software tools required to create simple products.
- Nature
Aim of this club is conservation of nature. Students will be encouraged to actively participate that preserve biodiversity of our natural surroundings.
- Recycling and Green Environment
The students in recycling clubs are the ones who make sure that our school is being eco-friendly in its periphery. These students establish the school-wide recycling initiative to promote concept of green environment.
- Chess
Not only could you practice and perfect your chess skills, but you could also have your club participate in local, regional and national competitions. You could even host a competition yourselves and have weekly discussions about the best strategies.
- Social
Service
His club will teach social behaviour to the students and promote their leadership qualities by helping society for a better tomorrow.
- Legal
Students will learn basic legal processes and carry out visits to nearby police station as well as the district courts.
- Entrepreneurs
This club will teach students to undertake small enterprising activities in pursuit of the generation of value, through the creation or expansion of economic activity by identifying and exploiting new products, processes or markets.
- Languages
Students interested in other Indian or foreign languages can join here to get an exposure to learning and gaining expertise in additional languages.
