We believe that English can be learnt and taught not from books but from various activities.
We have great pleasure to introduce you with the activities and programmes we conduct in our school.
- News reading:
Students of Class XI conduct this activity in general assembly at 9.50a.m. Students regularly watch English news on TV in the dining hall after evening study hour. They take down news of international, national, regional importance and news from sports and culture. Students read it in general assembly the next day. As students have to present it before the teaching staff, they prepare it carefully. It improves their reading skill and simultaneously keep them in touch with current affairs. Watching English news improves their pronunciation and vocabulary. We prepare a nootbook of these news. Collection of news becomes a study material for preparing questions on current affairs. - English newspaper reading:
English newspapers, ‘The Indian Express’ and ‘The Hitwada’ are made available to the students for reading. Habit of English newspaper reading improves their writing skill and general knowledge. Editorials and articles having literary value are filed. Activity of Newspaper clipping help them in updating their knowledge of various subjects. These articles are read in classrooms. - Reading competition:
Reading competition is held on the birth anniversary of Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. It is observed as ‘Vachan Prerna Diwas’. Last year students enthusiastically participated in the competition. - English Improvement and Grammar Classes:
English improvement classes are held in the evening study-hour. Special efforts are made to improve English vocabulary, speaking and writing abilities. Special efforts are taken on students who have come from rural area and from Marathi medium schools. Students having rural background have strange fear about English grammar. In evening guided study-hour-classes additional practice of grammar is given to these students so as to reduce fear about English grammar. It helps to strengthen their structural ability. - Classes of competitive English:
We prepare students for NDA examination. A special section is devoted to questions on English in NDA examination. Fifty questions in general ability test in NDA examination are on English. Competitive English classes are conducted for XI and XII standards.
